Covid has changed our style of living and also it has impacted childcare! Although we are living in uncertain times, our school community have remained together and have found ways to adapt to our present situation.
During the quarantine, Mi Mundo’s community stayed in touch through virtual reading and music circles in the mornings and making art, dancing zumba and playing games in the afternoons. Thanks to all the families participation and support, we were able to reopen our doors in June 2020.
In order to reopen safely, we implemented all the recommended CDC guidelines (daily temperature check ups, often hand wash, scattered pick ups and drop offs, moving activities outdoors and more). We also made some physical changes in the classrooms to provide children with a fun setting and comply with state regulations. In addition to all of this, we require children, staff and parents to wear a mask at all times while in the school. So this means that children wear their mask during their day at school and take it off for snacks, lunch and nap time.
Although some aspects of school have changed a bit, our daily program and art activities continue the same. Children continue exploring art materials, learn about the world and how things work around us making daily art and/or science projects!
As life continues, we navigate, adapt and integrate new strategies to better serve the families in our care.
